FELICITATION OF THE COMMUNITY LEADERS FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE
Darjeeling Lok Manch/ESP community Leaders Felicitation Program for Voluntary Services was
organized in Human Life Development and Research Centre, Siliguri, West Bengal. Fr. Xavier Soreng the
director of Lok Manch/ESP was the chief Guest for the event along with several guests of honour on the
dais. All were welcomed with traditional Adivasi shawls.
9 th of November 2024 was an important day for all the Community Leaders (CLs) who were present for
the event and others who could not make to the special occasion. Fr. Xavier Soreng gave a motivating
message on the occasion saying that this was a very special event for the Community Leaders who
played a decisive role in bringing about social transformation in their tea gardens and villages.
Darjeeling, having only one Unit, has formed hundreds of Community Leaders, however, only 40
Community Leaders were selected based on their excellent performances. Their several success stories
have been scripted. All the selected CLs were honoured with Adivasi Khada, Memento and certificate
recognizing their valuable services to their communities. It has showed the way that their good works
will continue to multiply in other villages as well.
The milestones of Lok Manch project were marked with three phases of key programs that triggered the
continuous growth over the last nine years of its journey. Lok Manch program was a collective venture
with the spirit of collaboration and networking. This has shown that working together has a strong value
for the community development.
Fr. Pascal Xalxo, the Unit Coordinator expressed his deep gratitude by congratulating the National Team
at ISI New Delhi, all project donors, all organizational directors, staff members, Community Leaders and
other program alliance partners, various Forum members and all the project stakeholders who
supported to take forward this mission of voluntary service.
